Another Injury Collision on US 41A in Hopkins County

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Jonathan Parish was the operator of a 1971 International dump truck. The truck was disabled and stopped in the southbound lane of travel on US 41A with no visible lights. Archie Elkins was operating a 2003 Dodge Intrepid southbound on US 41A approaching the disabled dump truck. Mr. Elkins was unable to avoid making contact with the dump truck. The front bumper of Mr. Elkins' vehicle struck the rear of the dump truck. Following the impact, Mr. Elkins' vehicle traveled across the northbound lane of travel where it came to rest in a ditch facing south. Mr. Parish's truck exited the southbound shoulder of the roadway coming to rest in a ditch facing south. Mr. Elkins' passenger, Mable Patterson, was transported by ambulance to the Regional Medical Center for treatment. No other injuries were reported. All subjects were wearing seat belts.
