Fugitive Apprehended in Hopkins County

Tolzmann Jr., click here to enlarge in a new windowOn Friday, July 10, 2009 at approximately 2:00 p.m. CST, the Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville was contacted by the United States Marshal Service in reference to a fugitive from Florida that was wanted for a homicide. The fugitive, Nicky S. Tolzmann Jr., age 28, was possibly enroute to the Dawson Springs area.

United States Marshals and Kentucky State Police Troopers responded to the Dawson Springs area to observe for Mr. Tolzmann. At approximately 9:00 p.m., officers located Mr. Tolzmann on KY 109 and followed him onto Olney Road. When officers tried to stop his vehicle, Mr. Tolzmann failed to stop. He continued on Olney Road between speeds of 45 to 50 mph. A tire deflation device was utilized to disable his vehicle. Once the vehicle stopped, Mr. Tolzmann refused to exit. At approximately 9:46 p.m., Mr. Tolzmann was taken into custody without incident.

Nicky Tolzmann was transported to the Hopkins County Detention Center where he is currently lodged. He was charged with the following offenses by the Kentucky State Police:

  1. Fleeing/Evading Police 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
  2. Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  3. Receiving Stolen Property Under $10,000
  4. Operating on a Suspended of Revoked Operator's License
  5. Execution of Warrant for Other Agency (11 counts)

The United States Marshal Service charged Mr. Tolzmann with the following offenses:

  1. Murder
  2. False Imprisonment
  3. Theft of Motor Vehicle
  4. Attempted Sexual Battery
