DUI & Felony Drug Arrest in Hopkins County

Date of News Release: 07/09/2009

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- On Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at approximately 10:41 p.m., troopers were conducting a traffic safety checkpoint on KY 336 at KY 481. Jimmy L. Capps Jr. was observed by the troopers operating a 1997 Ford pickup truck towards the checkpoint. As a result of Trooper Smith's investigation, Mr. Capps was suspected to be under the influence of methamphetamine. During a search of the vehicle, suspected methamphetamine, prescription pills, and drug paraphernalia including smoking pipes and scales, were located inside. Trooper Smith arrested Mr. Capps and charged him with the offenses of DUI 1st Offense, No Insurance 1st Offense, Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree 2nd Offense, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 1st Offense & Illegal Possession of Legend Drug. He was lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center.
