Burglary Arrest in Muhlenberg County

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- On Monday, June 29, 2009 at approximately 7:24 p.m., the Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville received a call in reference to stolen jewelry. The victim whose residence was on Graham Cypress Road, reported that a relative, Scotty Groves, was at her residence earlier and now she was missing two rings. Trooper Jerry Knight responded to the residence once he cleared the scene of an injury crash. In the meantime, Mr. Groves and his girlfriend, Christina Gore, had returned to the scene. The Muhlenberg County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene to assist Trooper Knight. Deputy Nantz obtained permission to search Ms. Gore's vehicle. Officers located one of the stolen rings inside the vehicle. After questioning Mr. Groves and Ms. Gore, Trooper Knight placed them both under arrest. The second ring has not been recovered. Mr. Groves was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree (Class D Felony) and Ms. Gore was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree-Conspiracy (Class A Misdemeanor)and both were lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center. The investigation is continuing by Trooper Jerry Knight.
