(Madisonville, Ky.) -- On Wednesday, May 13, 2009, Kentucky State Police Post 2 Network Analyst III Ron Dozer was presented with the Certificate of Excellence for his outstanding job performance during the recent ice storm that crippled western Kentucky.

Due to the ice and snow, the KEWS (radio) towers were not functioning properly, causing Post 2 to lose its radio system on several occasions. Mr. Dozer volunteered to travel to the tower sites and replace the dead batteries in order to keep the system functioning. Since the batteries were only good for 8 to 12 hours, Mr. Dozer continued to replace them until KEWS technicians could install generators at the sites. He then assisted in keeping the generators fueled. Mr. Dozer worked endless hours for several days through miserable conditions to keep the post's radio system functioning.

Captain William Marks, Commander of the KSP Madisonville Post stated, "Mr. Dozer went well above and beyond the call of duty. His actions were exemplary and brought great credit to both he and the Kentucky State Police."

Mr. Dozer resides in Central City with his family and has been employed by the Kentucky State Police since March of 1996.
