Update to the Death Investigation of an Infant

Date of News Release: 04/01/2009

(Madisonville, Ky.) - An autopsy was performed today at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Louisville. The 19-month-old victim, Kaydon R. Stewart, died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head. Alan E. Rolley remains lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center with no bond.

(Madisonville, Ky.) - On March 30, 2009 at 1:49 P.M., Alan E. Rolley, step-father to the deceased, was arrested and charged with murder. This arrest was after an investigation in the death of a 1 year old child. The accused was arrested at Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville by Detective Billy Sumner.

Detective Sumner was assisted by Lt. Micky Hatmaker, Sergeant Greg Jones, Detective Lonnie Kavanaugh and Detective Scott Smith. The investigation is still continuing and Mr. Rolley will be lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center.

(Madisonville, Ky.) - On March 29, 2009 at 7:15 P.M. the Muhlenberg Community Hospital called the Kentucky State Police to report what they believed to be child abuse. The hospital stated that the child's grandmother had brought in the 1 year old infant for being unresponsive. After a examination by the Emergency room Doctor it was determined the child had a skull fracture an had some bruising on the forehead, cause is unknown at this time. Muhlenberg Community Hospital had the infant flown to Kosair's hospital in Louisville.

The Kentucky State Police has sent Troopers to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital and also sent Detectives to Kosair in Louisville. An investigation is being conducted by the Kentucky State Police as to the cause of the injuries to the infant.

At 11:20 A.M. on March 30, 2009 the infant passed away at Kosair's Hospital. Investigation is still on going as to the cause of death.
