Horse and Buggy Accident in Todd County

(Madisonville, KY) - Melvin Hoover was operating a horse and buggy southbound on Roger Q. Mill Road when he met a tan, Dodge Dakota pickup truck traveling northbound at an apparent high rate of speed. Mr. Hoover had to guide the horse and buggy off onto the right shoulder of the roadway to avoid the pickup truck. The buggy overturned when it dropped off the shoulder of the roadway. Mr. Hoover was not injured. Marie Hoover refused treatment at the scene. Marlene Hoover was transported to the Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment. She was later transferred to Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, TN. The horse was not injured. At the present time, the driver of the pickup truck has not been located. The investigation is continuing by the Kentucky State Police.
