Injury Crash Involving Fire Truck in Christian County

(Madisonville, KY) - Donald York II was operating a 1987 International fire truck for the Crofton Volunteer Fire Department westbound on KY 800 responding to an emergency call. The fire truck's emergency equipment was activated. Alan R. Ladd, age 44 of Crofton, KY, was operating a 1998 GMC Jimmy eastbound on KY 800. Mr. Ladd did not yield the right of way to the emergency vehicle. Instead, his vehicle drifted into the westbound lane. Mr. York swerved in order to avoid a collision. The fire truck exited off the right shoulder of the roadway and overturned several times. It came to rest on its driver's side against a tree. Donald York, and his passenger, K. C. York, were transported by ambulance to the Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment. Both men were wearing seat belts. Mr. Ladd was arrested and charged with Operating A Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Drugs 1st Offense. He was lodged in the Christian County Detention Center.
