Doctor Shopping Arrest by KSP

(Madisonville, KY) - A Fredonia man was arrested this morning after a two week investigation by the Kentucky State Police. On December 30, 2008, a local physician contacted the Kentucky State Police to report that a patient might be "doctor shopping" to obtain controlled substances. An investigation by detectives from the Madisonville and Mayfield Posts revealed that the accused had been receiving Hydrocodone, a schedule three controlled substance, on a routine basis from January of 2006 through December of 2008. The investigation also revealed that the accused had obtained prescription drugs by fraud on a total of 12 occasions in four Western Kentucky counties: Crittenden, Livingston, Lyon, and McCracken.
On Thursday, January 15, 2009, Michael Fraliex, age 35, was arrested at his place of employment in Princeton. Mr. Fraliex was charged with a total of 12 counts of Attempting to Obtain a Controlled Substance by Fraud/False Statement/Forgery 1st (Class D Felony), commonly referred to as "doctor shopping." Mr. Fraliex was lodged in the Crittenden County Jail. The investigation is continuing by detectives from the Madisonville and Mayfield State Police Posts.
