Post 1 Commander Receives Award

(Hickory, KY) - Captain Nathan Kent, Commander of the Kentucky State Police post in Hickory, recently received the Lovey Raburn Award for his dedication and contributions in the areas of mental health. While serving as chair for the Crisis Intervention Team Advisory Council, Captain Kent was vital in the creation of step-by-step procedures that are being used by front line officers responding to crisis calls and mental illness situations. Captain Kent has also played a vital role in the upcoming crisis intervention training which will be held in early 2010 for area first responders. Captain Kent received his award on December 17th.
Four Rivers Behavioral Health gives this award annually to a citizen from the region who has contributed to the areas of mental health, mental retardation, and substance abuse. The award was created in 1977 to honor Mrs. Lovey Raburn from Carlisle County. Raburn served on the board of directors for Four Rivers prior to her death.
