Arson Arrest

(Smithland, Ky.) -- On December 1, 2009, Kentucky State Police began an investigation into the fire of the Historical Massey House located in Smithland, Kentucky. Determination by the Kentucky State Fire Marshal's Office and the Kentucky State Police ruled the fire as Arson. On December 17, 2009, Kentucky State Police charged a 15-year old and a 16-year old in connection with the crime. The 15-year old Livingston County Resident was charged with Arson 2nd Degree, Burglary 2nd Degree and Criminal Mischief 1st Degree. The 16-year old Livingston County Resident was charged with Complicity to Commit Arson 2nd Degree, Complicity to Commit Burglary 2nd Degree and Complicity to Commit Criminal Mischief 1st Degree. Both juveniles were lodged in the McCracken County Regional Juvenile Complex. The investigation is continuing by Detective Frank Gresham, Kentucky State Police Arson Investigator.
