Marijuana Eradication in Post 1 District

(Hickory, Ky.) -- During the week of June 29th through July 2nd, Kentucky State Police, Post One, conducted marijuana eradication throughout the eleven-county post district. Numerous marijuana plants were seized during the four day eradication period. The following is a county summary of where marijuana seizures occurred.
- Ballard County- 290 marijuana plants seized from 4 plots.
- McCracken County-5 marijuana plants seized from 3 plots.
- Marshall County-5 marijuana plants seized from 5 plots.
- Graves County- 30 marijuana plants seized from 5 plots.
One individual was arrested in Crittenden County, by KSP Post 1 & 2 personnel, for his role in the cultivation of marijuana. Tony A. Maxfield (44) of Marion was charged with Cultivating Marijuana (less than 5 plants), Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center by Trooper Darron Holliman of Post 2.
Throughout the summer, several hundred marijuana plants have been seized throughout the Post One district. The investigation into the illegal cultivation of marijuana is continuing by KSP investigators and further arrests are pending on two individuals, one in Ballard County (LaCenter area) and one in Graves County (Wingo area).
