Fatal Collision on KY 1824 in Calloway County

(Dexter, Ky.) -- On July 8, 2009 at approximately 1002 hours Kentucky State Police responded to a two vehicle fatal collision on KY 1824 near the Dexter community. Darla Davidson, 46 of Hardin, was operating a Lincoln Town Car traveling north on KY 1824 when for unknown reasons she crossed the south bound lane of travel and exited the left side of the roadway. Mrs. Davidson continued traveling north off of the roadway for a short distance before re-entering KY 1824 traveling north in the south bound lane. Mrs. Davidson then collided with a Ford pick-up being driven by James Higgins, 64 also of Hardin, that was traveling south on KY 1824. Mr. Higgins and his passenger Donnie Birdsong, 56 of Hardin both were wearing their seatbelts and sustained non-life threatening injuries. Mr. Higgins and Mr. Birdsong were both transported to Murray-Calloway County Hospital, where Mr. Higgins was later air lifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center. Mrs. Davidson was not wearing her seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is continuing by Tpr. Trent Weaver.
