Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree Investigation
Date of News Release: 06/19/2009
(Mayfield, Ky.) -- On Friday, June 19, 2009, 3 subjects were placed under arrest for the charge of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, a class D felony. The Mayfield office of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services received a complaint through the child abuse hotline last week concerning a 1 year-old juvenile being exposed to illicit drug activity. After a joint investigation between the Kentucky State Police and the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, an emergency custody order was granted by District Judge Deborah Crooks in Graves County concerning the 1 year-old juvenile. The child was then placed in foster care by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. A hair follicle test was then performed on the Juvenile by Occunet, earlier this week. The test results came back showing a positive indicator that the child had been exposed to and/or had ingested methamphetamine. According to the test results, the juvenile's level of amphetamine/methamphetamine was more than four-times the adult cut-off limit normally seen by Occunet. After a custody hearing today in Graves County District Court, Trooper Kyle Nall arrested and charged Amber Hiel, 23 of Mayfield, Toy Frasier, 45 of Mayfield, and Roger Hage, 25 of Paducah with 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment. The investigation continues with Trooper Nall of the Kentucky State Police, and Jodye Bauman, Social Service Clinician of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.
