Fire Investigation and Arrest in Kirksey, Ky

(Kirksey, Ky.) -- On Saturday April 11, 2009 at approximately 10:19 p.m., the Kentucky State Police received a 911 call of a fire at 2638 Backusburg Road in Kirksey. The female caller advised of a house fire at this residence. Upon arrival, fire units contacted the State Fire Marshall reference suspicious circumstances. Upon investigation, Trooper Green obtained a search warrant for the address of the incident. The search warrant uncovered evidence that a border of the residence, Lee E. Reeves, set fire to the kitchen area of the residence. Mr. Reeves left the residence without advising the other 3 occupants of the fire.

An arrest warrant was obtained and Mr. Reeves was taken into custody and charged with 1st Degree Arson, a class A felony. He was lodged in the Calloway County jail. Trooper Green was assisted on scene by Sgt. Ryan Dawson, Trooper Kyle Nall, Calloway County Sheriffs Department, Murray Calloway County EMS and Calloway County Fire and Rescue. All four occupants of the residence were transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation, where they were treated and released. The investigation is continuing by Trooper Green.
