Fatal Collision on KY 54 Daviess County

(Henderson, Ky.) -- Steven Sutton, operating a 1994 Pontiac Firebird, was traveling eastbound on KY 54, approximately two-tenths of a mile east of Whitesville, KY. Tiffany Burks, operating a 2006 Toyota, was also on KY 54 traveling westbound. For an unknown reason, Mr. Sutton's vehicle crossed the centerline striking Ms. Burks' vehicle head-on. After impact, Mr. Sutton's vehicle crossed over the eastbound lane and into a yard at final rest. Ms. Burks' car slide off the westbound shoulder and was facing east at final rest. During the collision, Mr. Sutton was ejected from his vehicle. He was pronounced dead on scene by Deputy Coroner Day. Ms. Burks, Heath Huff and George Farmer were taken by ambulance to Owensboro Medical Health Systems. All participants sustained various multiple body injuries. KY 54 was shut down for over three hours due to the reconstruction and extensive clean-up. At this point in the investigation, its unknown if speed, alcohol or drugs played a factor in the collision. The investigation is on-going.
