One Injured in a DUI Collision on KY 55

(Columbia, Ky) -- Trooper Andy Olson is investigating a collision that 10/03/09 at 8:35 A.M., 7 miles south of Columbia on KY55. The collision occurred when a 1991 Toyota, operated by Glenn S. Mitchum, age 41, of Columbia, was leaving Hardscratch General Store and pulled into the patch of a 1998 Pontiac, which was being operated by Gwen Beckwith, age 49, of Jamestown, who was traveling northbound on KY55. As a result of the impact, the Beckwith vehicle traveled across the roadway and struck a telephone pole. Beckwith, who was belted at the time of the collision, was transported from the scene by Adair County EMS. Mitchum, who was not belted and not injured, was arrested at the scene for DUI and lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail.
