One Injured In A Single Vehicle Collision on KY 551

(Columbia, Ky.) -- A collision occurred 9/25/2009 at 5:06 p.m., 3.5 miles Northeast of Columbia on KY551, when a 2007 Chevy pickup, being operated by Richard O'Neal Smith, age 22, of Columbia, was traveling North on KY551, dropped off the right shoulder of the roadway, overcorrected and ran off the left hand side of the roadway then struck two trees. Mr. Smith, who was not belted, was ejected from the vehicle. Mr. Smith was transferred from the scene by Adair County EMS to Westlake Regional Hospital and transferred by Air Ambulance to the University of Louisville hospital due to his injuries. The collision is being investigated by Trooper Clint Walker, who was assisted at the scene by Adair County EMS and Adair County Deputy Sheriff Charles Greer.
