Fatal Collision on US 68 in Metcalfe County

(Columbia, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police Post 15 Columbia is investigating a two vehicle fatal collision that occurred on US 68, approximately 5.4 miles west of Edmonton, in Metcalfe County. A vehicle being operated by 52 year old Floyd Lowe of Edmonton was traveling west on US 68. Mr. Lowe's vehicle left the roadway, striking an earth embankment. Mr. Lowe's vehicle overturned and re-entered the roadway, where it was struck by a vehicle being operated by Kendon Horton of Glasgow. Mr. Horton, 32 years of age, was transported to TJ Samson Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. A passenger in the Mr. Horton vehicle, 12 year old Cassie Horton, was airlifted to Kosair Children's Hospital. Both occupants in Mr. Horton' vehicle were wearing seatbelts. Mr. Lowe, which was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital. The collision is being investigated by Sgt. Jamie Heller. Sgt. Heller was assisted at the scene by Tpr. Andy Olson, Tpr. David Smith, Tpr. Ricky Brooks, Metcalfe County Sheriff Department, and the Metcalfe County Fire and Rescue.
