Assault 1st Degree in Marion County

Date of News Release: 06/21/2009

(Marion County, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police responded to Springview Hospital in Lebanon to investigate a stab wound to Stacy L Cope age 39 of Gravel Switch. Trooper Coyt arrived to find Mr. Cope with a laceration to his right front shoulder due to an altercation with Virgil R Smothers age 67 of Liberty. This incident occurred on Tatum Lane in Marion County. Virgil Smothers was arrested and charged with Assault 1st degree. The investigation is continuing by Trooper Brian Coyt.
