State Park Employee Arrested for Brandishing Firearm

(Cumberland County) -- On Friday May 1, 2009 at 8:21 CST, Post 15 received a call from Dale Hollow Lake State Park. The caller advised that an employee of the Park, Anthony C. Byers of Albany, KY had gone to the front desk of the park with a shotgun and one live round before going to the maintenance building. The caller stated that Byers had just received a letter of dismissal from his employment with the Park.
When Byers was made aware that law enforcement had been notified, he left operating a Chevrolet passenger car. KSP units initiated a traffic stop and Byers was arrested for Possession of a controlled Substance, 1st; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Driving under the Influence, Drugs.
Additional charges, related to the State Park incident were added after a warrant was issued for Menacing and Disorderly Conduct.
Byers was lodged in the Adair County Jail. Trooper Bobby Maxwell and Sgt. Jamie Heller are continuing the investigation.
