Fatal Collision on US 127 in Casey County

Date of News Release: 04/11/2009

(Dunnville, Ky.) -- Collision occurred 04/11/09 at approximately 12:35 p.m. CST, in the Dunnville area of Casey County on US 127. A 2001 Chevy, operated by Francisco Javier Marcial, age 21, of Dunnville, was traveling southbound on US127. Mr. Marcial's vehicle struck a 1998 Dodge pickup, operated by Jeffrey Stafford, age 34, of Russell Springs, which had stopped in traffic. After striking the Mr. Stafford's vehicle, Mr. Marcial's vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 2006 Toyota, operated by Hannah Young, age 17, of Springfield, Ohio, head on. Ms. Young was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision. Passengers in the Ms. Young's vehicle, Edith Young, age 51, Adam Burns, age 17, and Keenan Young, age 13, all of Springfield, Ohio were transported to the Russell County Hospital and were treated and released. Mr. Stafford was transported to the Russell County Hospital where he was treated and released. Mr. Marcial was transported to the Russell County Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A female passenger in Mr. Marcial's vehicle, Monica Zuniga, age 13, was airlifted to the UK Medical Center in Lexington and is listed in critical condition. All subjects were belted at the time of the collision. KSP was assisted at the scene by the Casey County Sheriff's Department, Casey County Fire/Rescue, Casey County Highway Department, and Casey County EMS. The collision is being investigated by Sgt. Jamie Heller.
