Bank Robbery in Monroe County

Date of News Release: 01/06/2009

(Columbia, KY) - Monroe County Sheriff's Department received a call at 09:02 CST in reference to a Robbery at South Central Bank of Gamaliel in Monroe County. A white male entered the bank and indicated that he was armed. The suspect demanded money and received an undisclosed amount. The suspect left the scene and may be operating a Nissan Car with black trim on the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was last seen headed west on KY Highway 0087. A second vehicle of interest is a 1998 Nissan truck, green in color with TN registration plate 839-BND. This vehicle was reported stolen out of Clay County, TN earlier this morning. The suspect was last seen wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt and should be considered armed and dangerous. Surrounding Kentucky and Tennessee authorities as well as the FBI have been notified. More details will be released as soon as they are available.
