Death Investigation of a Perry County Juvenile

(Hazard, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police is investigating the death of a thirteen year old male juvenile in the Viper community of Perry County.

On December 30, 2009 at approximately 2:55 pm Kentucky State Police in Hazard received a call that the juvenile had been located behind his family's residence possibly deceased from a gunshot wound.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim received an accidental gunshot from a handgun in is possession. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Perry County Coroner's Office. No foul play is suspected and the body has been sent to the State Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy. The investigation is continuing by Det. Chuck Bledsoe.
