Accidental Shooting Investigation

(Hazard, Ky.) -- On 12\06\09 at approximately 1:49pm Kentucky State Police in Hazard received a 911 call from Leslie County Emergency Operations Center reference an accidental shooting at 601 Little Stinnett Road in the Stinnett community of Leslie County.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Veronica Hubbard received an accidental gunshot wound by her thirteen year old juvenile son. The weapon, which was a twelve gauge shotgun, was issued to Sean Blair who is employed by the Letcher County Police Department and was off duty at the time of the shooting. Ms. Hubbard was transported to the Mary Breckinridge Hospital where she was pronounced deceased by the Leslie County Coroners Office. Evidence supports that the shooting is accidental and the investigation is continuing by Det. Chris Collins.
