Fatal Collision on U.S. 119

(Hazard, Ky.) -- On June 4, 2009 at approximately 5:43 p.m. KSP Post 13 Hazard received a call of a 2 vehicle traffic collision on U.S. 119 at Gose Hollow. When Trooper Derek Hall arrived on the scene, it was determined that Ada Maloney 73 years old was driving a 1994 Mercury Tracer northbound on US 119 and came upon a line of stopped traffic. She attempted to stop on the wet road and went into the southbound lane striking a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica, driven by Jason Adams, head on. Ms. Maloney was wearing a shoulder belt at the time of the collision. Letcher County Coroner, Wallace Bowling, pronounced Ms. Maloney was dead at the scene. Mr. Adams was taken to Whitesburg ARH for treatment. Alcohol was not suspected as a cause of the accident.
