Drug Arrests

(Hazard, Ky.) -- On 05/12/2008, a joint investigation by the Letcher County Sheriff's Office, the Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement Special Investigation East, the HIDTA Drug Task Force and the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the United States Attorney's Office has resulted in the arrest of several Letcher County residents as well as two subjects now living in Detroit, Michigan. The arrests conclude a two-year investigation into the interstate trafficking of Oxycontin into Letcher, Knott, Perry and Pike counties. The investigation revealed that this organization was responsible for tens of thousands of Oxycontin pills being delivered into southeast Kentucky. The investigation is continuing with more arrests expected. The following subjects were arrested: (1. 2.3.4.Ect.) The charges include (Possession with intent to Distribute). The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District is in charge of the prosecution.
