Collision Occurs with Passenger Car and School Bus

(Hazard, Ky.) -- On 05/08/2009 at approximately 09:24 am Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a call of a collision involving a passenger car and school bus on Jones Fork Mountain in the Larkslane Community of Knott County.

Preliminary investigation indicates a passenger car operated by Jonathan Feltner age 27 of Mousie, Ky. was traveling West on Hwy. 550 when he lost control of his vehicle in a curve and crossed over into the Eastbound lane and struck a school bus registered to the Knott County Board of Education.

The operator of the school bus Lynn Click age 39 of Litt Carr and Judith Jones, a school aid were both transported to the Hazard ARH for treatment. A student on the bus, Josh Johnson was released to his parents at the scene and later treated at the Hazard ARH.

Jonathan Feltner and a passenger in his vehicle, Joseph Short age 13 of Mousie, Ky. were both airlifted to Cabell Huntington Medical Center. James Short age 16 of Mousie, Ky. also a passenger in the car was transported to the Hazard ARH. Seatbelt restraints were in use on the bus, but seatbelts were not in use in the passenger car at the time of the collision. Air bags in the car were deployed. Investigation is continuing by Tpr. Derek Hall.
