Fatal Collision on Highway 15 in Letcher County

(Hazard, Ky.) - Trooper First Class Derek Hall, U/408 with the Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard is investigating a single vehicle traffic fatality that happened along Highway 15 in the Dry Fork Community of Letcher County. A 1998 Dodge Neon which was driven north bound on Highway 15 by Gregory Collins (age 42) drifted off the shoulder of the roadway striking a guardrail then crossing all lanes of traffic before running into a ditch. The vehicle then for a second time crossed all lanes of traffic again striking a guardrail and overturning in the roadway. The driver who was not wearing a seatbelt was ejected from the vehicle. The Letcher ambulance service transported the victim to the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital Emergency Room where he was pronounced deceased by the attending emergency room physician. Trooper First Class Derek Hall, U/408 is in charge of the investigation.
