Fatal Collision on HWY 80 in Knott County

(Hazard, Ky.) - On 3/10/09 at 0658 hrs a call was received reporting an injury accident on HWY 80 at Rockfork in Knott County. Upon arrival Trp Joel Abner determined Joshua Mills was driving a 1999 Dodge Caravan had rear-ended unit #2 a 2006 Perterbilt Tractor Trailer in the east bound lane, after impact with Tractor Trailer Mr. Mills' vehicle crossed median into westbound lane and struck unit #3 a 2001 Ford Taurus head on. Mr. Mills was transported to Hazard ARH then air lifted to St. Mary's Hospital at Huntington WV. Mr. Mills was pronounced deceased at 0958 hrs by Cabel County Coroners Office. Operator of unit three was air lifted to Holsten Valley Hospital at Kingsport TN. Operator of unit two was uninjured. A cased was opened by Tpr Holliday U598 for death investigation.
