Fatal House Fire in Letcher County

(Hazard, KY) - Cumberland River Fire Department, along with the Letcher County Sheriff's Department and KSP responded to a structure fire on Highway 806 in Eolia Community of Letcher County. After the mobile home was extinguished, Mrs. Ella Miles, 35 years old, was located in a bedroom of the residence. The Letcher County Coroners Office pronounced her deceased at the scene. Preliminary investigation indicates that the origin of the fire was in a bathroom adjacent to the bedroom where Mrs. Miles was found. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Detective Randy Combs, and Arson Investigator James Burnett of Post 13-Hazard and the Kentucky State Fire Marshall's Office.
