KSP Post 12 "Shop with a Trooper"

(Post 12 Frankfort) -- Twenty six kids from thirteen different families received toys and clothing this holiday during the Shop with a Trooper Program at Post 12 Frankfort. Frankfort Wal-Mart, Kentucky State Police Professional Association District 12, Man O' War Harley Davidson in Lexington, several area businesses and individuals all teamed up with the Frankfort Post.

On December 1, Man O' War Harley Davidson in Lexington, Kentucky started collecting new toy donations. Customers brought in toys, stuffed animals and money to purchase toys to help needy kids for Christmas.

On December 21, 2009, the items collected were turned over to the Frankfort Post. Frankfort Post 12 located the needy families through troopers, schools, and community groups.

On December 22, several needy families came to Post 12 in Frankfort and chose toys for their kids. Post 12 also received checks from the Frankfort Wal-Mart, Jeff Wyler Honda in Frankfort, Kentucky State Police Professional Association District 12, local businesses and individuals. At 2:30 PM those needy family and kids met Troopers from the Frankfort Post and Santa at the Frankfort Wal-Mart where they shopped with a Trooper to complete their Christmas.

Captain Mike Crawford, Commander of Post 12, stated "At this time of the year we are blessed to have the opportunity to provide toys and clothing to needy families in our area. With the current financial crisis affecting everyone, I am especially pleased our local businesses have remained committed to our cause of providing to those less fortunate. This is just another way the Kentucky State Police show our commitment to the citizens we proudly serve".
