Anderson County Father Arrested for Assaulting His Child

(Post 12 Frankfort) -- A Kentucky State Police investigation has lead to the arrest of Derek N. Heartley, age 26 of Lawrenceburg, charging him with two counts of Assault 1st. The investigation began on November 4, 2009 when KSP received a child abuse complaint involving a two and a half month old child from Anderson County. The abuse was reported first by the University of Kentucky Children Hospital to the Anderson County Department of Families Children.

On Thursday November 19, at 10:15 PM Derek N. Heartley was arrested and lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center. The child is in custody of other family members. Kentucky State Police investigation is continuing.
