Fatal Collision on I-64 in Franklin County

(Post 12 Frankfort) --On 08/10/2009, Mustafa Widdi age 23, was traveling westbound on I-64 just west of the Kentucky River bridge. Traffic was slowing due to construction in the area, and Mr. Widdi's vehicle approached the slowed traffic at a high rate of speed. Mr. Widdi attempted to change lanes abruptly, merging into the left lane and immediately back into the right lane, where it struck the rear of a tractor trailer, driven by Edgar Sandlin, Jr. Mr. Widdi was flown to UK Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition. The accident remains under investigation by KSP.

On 08/11/09 at 10:52 AM, Mustafa Widdi was pronounced deceased by the Fayette County Coroner Office.
