Fatal Collision on I-64 in Franklin County

(Post 12 Frankfort) -- Robert Hite III and Earley Woods were traveling east bound on I-64. Mr. Woods's semi had slowed in traffic due to a traffic accident at mile marker 49. Mr. Hite failed to observed Mr. Woods's semi slowing in traffic and struck the rear of Mr. Woods's semi in the right lane at the 48 mile marker. Due to impact of Mr. Hite's vehicle into Mr. Woods's semi, Mr. Hite's vehicle overturned and came to final rest on the left shoulder of the roadway. Mr. Woods's semi came to final rest on right shoulder of roadway. Robert Hite III was pronounced dead at 1540 hrs by the Franklin County Coroner. Investigation is on going by the Kentucky State Police.
