(Post 12 Frankfort) -- KSP Post 12 reports no fatalities in our seven counties within the Post 12 area during the July 4th 2009 holiday.
Preliminary statistics* statewide indicate that eight people died as a result of eight separate crashes on Kentucky's roadways during the 2009 July 4th holiday period.
Troopers working counties in the Post 12 area issued the following citations and conducted 4 traffic safety check points. Compared to this same time in 2008, fatal collisions in the Post 12 counties are down by 26% and fatalities are down by 32%.

*These statistics are still preliminary as KSP waits for all local law enforcement agencies to report any crashes and fatalities that may have occurred in their areas.
