Two Injured in a Single Vehicle Collision on I-75

(London, Ky.) -- On Sunday, October 25, 2009, at 8:55 AM the Kentucky State Police, Post 11, in London was notified of a single vehicle traffic crash with injury, at the 54 mile marker, on Interstate 75 in Rockcastle County.
Upon arrival Trooper Staci Walker determined that a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV with an attached boat and trailer, operated by Cornelius Riordan, 62, of Cassopolis, MI, was southbound on Interstate 75 when it went out of control, struck the concrete barrier wall, crossed all southbound lanes and traveled down an embankment, coming to rest on its side.
Cornelius Riordan and his passenger Mike Riordan, 49, of Gary IN, were flown from the scene, with non-life threatening injuries, to the University of Kentucky Medical Center where they are listed in good condition.
Interstate 75 was shutdown for, approximately 2 hours, due to the landing of medical helicopters and the evacuation of the injured.
Trooper Staci Walker is in charge of the investigation and was assisted, at the scene, by Sergeant Tom Atkin, Sergeant Matt Felter, Trooper Lloyd Cochran, Mount Vernon Fire& Rescue, Town and County Towing, Rockcastle EMS, Kentucky Fish & Wildlife, Kentucky Safe Patrol and Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County.
