2009 Click It or Ticket Campaign
Date of News Release: 05/12/09
(London, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police, Post 11, London, which provides coverage for Clay, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne and Whitley counties, will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints during the period of May 18th through the 31st at locations approved by the Kentucky State Police Policy and Procedures Manual.
These checkpoints are a part of the 2009 Click It or Ticket Campaign and will be conducted in an effort to enforce the traffic laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Special attention will be paid to occupant protection (seatbelt adherence), sobriety, insurance and registration violations.
The goal of this campaign is to reduce the number of crashes, injuries and fatalities that occur during the Memorial Holiday period.
Last year, statewide, there were 4483 crashes resulting in 1423 injuries and 25 fatalities during this time period.
In the London Post area, during this time period in 2008, there were 259 crashes resulting in 78 injuries and 2 fatalities.
