Marijuana/Moonshine Bust Harlan County

(Evarts, Ky.) -- On 9/23/2009 at 3:10 p.m. Troopers from Kentucky State Police Post 10 Harlan and Detectives from the Kentucky State Police Cannabis Suppression Unit responded to a complaint received about marijuana being grown near a residence in the community of Jones's Creek near Evarts, KY. After further investigation, nine marijuana plants were discovered as well as a moonshine still and several items believed to be explosives. The Kentucky State Police Hazardous Devices Unit and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives arrived at the scene and their investigation located blasting caps, a large quantity of time fuse and other military explosive equipment as well as multiple firearms and ammunition.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives will be seeking prosecution of Bobby Williams, age 55 of Evarts, KY. This case is still under investigation.
