Post 10 Activity and Holiday Enforcement

Date of News Release: 06/29/09

(Harlan, Ky.) -- From June 22nd - June 28th , 2009 Kentucky State Police Post 10 Harlan Troopers made 4 DUI arrests, wrote 164 citations, 14 seatbelt citations, 1 child restraint citation, 25 citations for speeding, 19 criminal arrests and answered 262 complaints.

The 2009 Fourth of July Holiday Enforcement Period 'Over the Limit - Under Arrest' begins Thursday July 2 to Sunday July 5th. Kentucky State Police Post 10 Troopers will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints and increased patrols to make our communities safer during this holiday period. Every 40 minutes and nearly 40 times a day, someone in the United States dies in an alcohol-impaired traffic crash according to research by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. That is why Kentucky State Police along with other highway safety, community health and law enforcement officials are reminding everyone this Fourth of July that Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving and to designate a sober driver before the celebrations begin.

Citizens can contribute to highway safety by reporting erratic drivers to the Kentucky State Police toll-free at 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state). Callers will remain anonymous and should give a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel and license number if possible.
