Fatal Crash in Bell County

(Page, Ky.) -- On 4/13/2009 at 12:36 p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 10 received a call about a two vehicle crash on US 119 in the community of Page, KY. Unit 1, a 1998 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight operated by Ginger Gross age 48 of Loyall, KY was traveling north on US 119. Unit 2, a 2001 Peterbilt Tractor Trailer operated by Lonnie Walden age 40 of Williamsburg, KY was traveling south on US119. Unit 1 crossed the centerline into the southbound lane and the front of Unit 1 struck the side of Unit 2 in the left side fuel tank. Unit 1 came to final rest on the northbound shoulder of US 119. Unit 2 ran off of the southbound shoulder over an embankment and overturned. The operator of Unit 1 was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by Bell County Coroner Clyde Creech. The operator of Unit 2 sustained minor injuries and was transported to Pineville Community Hospital by Bell EMS. Assisting at the scene were; Trooper George Howard, Trooper Don Perry, Trooper Jimmy Young, Detective Josh Bunch, Bell County Rescue Squad, Bell County Volunteer Fire Department, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement and Bell County S.O.
This fatal crash is still under investigation by Detective Mike Cornett of Kentucky State Police Post 10 Harlan.
