Pedestrian Struck and Killed on US 119

(Pikeville, KY) - James R. Chapman was walking in the Belfry area on US 119 in the roadway wearing dark jeans and a dark shirt. Mr. Chapman was struck by a 2004 Jeep Cherokee operated by Crystal D. Blair of Canada, KY. Mr. Chapman was then struck by an unknown light colored passenger car which left the scene. Mr. Chapman was pronounced dead on scene by Pike County Deputy Coroner Mike Hall at 7:09 pm. Trooper Brad Austin was assisted on scene by SGT Randy McCarty, Trooper Randall Coots, and Trooper Donald White. Also assisting on scene was the Belfry Fire Department. The accident is still under investigation by Trooper Brad Austin.
