Structure Fire & Death Investigation in Martin County

(Pikeville, KY) - Martin County 911 received a report of a structure fire at 532 Sweetwater Road, Inez, KY from an occupant within the structure. Upon arrival, Netcare Ambulance Service transported two of the six occupants to a nearby landing zone where they were both airlifted to Cabell-Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV. Britney Luster, 9 years of age, was transferred from there to the Shriners Hospital Burn Center in Boston, MA. Her condition at this time is unknown. Betty Luster, 52 years of age, was pronounced dead upon arrival by Dr. Toppins at Cabell-Huntington Hospital. At this time, no foul play is suspected. The fire is believed to be unintentional. Detective Cramer was assisted by Post 9 Arson Investigator Don Parker.
