Assault 1st Degree Investigation & Arrest in Salyersville, KY

(Pikeville, KY) - On August 30, 2008 at approximately 3:17 pm Post 9 received a call from Salyersville Police Department requesting assistance on a domestic violence complaint in Salyersville, KY.

Upon arrival it was discovered that Rita Blanton, 31 years of age, and Terry Lee Arnett, 40 years of age, had been involved in a physical altercation. Ms. Blanton sustained a gun shot wound and other injuries from the altercation. Ms. Blanton was airlifted to St Mary's Medical Center and is currently listed in fair condition. Terry Lee Arnett was arrested without incident and charged with Assault 1st Degree (domestic violence) and lodged in the Big Sandy Detention Center. The incident remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police Detective Jason Dials. Detective Dials was assisted by Sgt Anthony Taulbee, Tpr Brian Lee, Tpr Josh Preece, Tpr Wes Collins and Salyersville Police Department.
