Johnson County Fatalities on US 460

(Paintsville, KY) - At 9:06 AM EST Paintsville EMS received a call of a single vehicle collision on US 460. Johnson County Sheriffs Office and Paintsville Fire and Rescue responded to the scene.

As Paramedic Christa Burchett escorted Erica Brown to the ambulance a 2003 Peterbilt semi trailer driven by Leslie Spence came around the curve and started sliding. Spence's Peterbilt then struck a Hyundai Tibaron driven by Ashley Goble of Inez. The semi trailer continued on and struck the Johnson County Deputy's 2003 Ford Crown Victoria and the Paintsville Fire and Rescue Ambulance. It then struck Ms. Burchett and Ms. Brown before colliding with Brown's vehicle. Ms. Brown, 24 years of age, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Ms. Burchett, 33 years of age, was transported to Paul B Hall Medical Center where she was also pronounced deceased by Johnson County Coroner JR Frisbee.

The collision remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police Accident Reconstructionist Trooper Brad Austin. Trooper Austin was assisted at the scene by Detective Eddie Crum, Detective Don Parker, Paintsville Fire and Rescue, Paintsville City Police Department, Johnson County Sheriff's Office, Oil Springs Fire Department, Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement and Johnson County Coroners Office.
