Two People in Bath County Arrested

(Morehead, KY) - James H. & Connie Bowes were arrested and charged with allegedly committing Cultivation of Marijuana Greater Than 5 Plants, Unlawful Transaction with a Minor 2nd Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 1st Degree.
At approximately 3:00am the Kentucky State Police at Morehead were contacted by the Bath County Sheriff's Office and Bath County Social Services in reference to a 15 year old male juvenile that had ran away from his home as result of allegations of physical abuse. As a result of the allegations the juvenile was placed in the protection of the Bath County Social Services and Trooper Brown went to the Bowes residence on Cardinal Lane to contact the parents to inform them of the of the status of their child and to conduct further investigation into the allegations.
Upon arrival Trooper Brown discovered an "indoor grow" in which several marijuana plants were being cultivated. Upon discovery additional Officers from the Morehead Post Investigation section, the Post Street Level Drug Enforcement Section and the Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement Special Investigation Eastern Section responded to dismantle the elaborate plant cultivation equipment and confiscate the marijuana. A total of 320 plants were confiscated ranging in height of 3 inches to 4 feet and having a value of several thousand dollars. The equipment confiscated included plastic plant beds, irrigation pipe, water pumps, fans, ballasts, agriculture grow lamps, filters and timers. Several firearms were seized in addition to the drug paraphernalia. Investigation continues.
