Murder Investigation in Madison County

(Richmond, KY) - William Buttry III was involved in a physical altercation with his 22-year-old son, Dean Buttry. William Buttry III struck his son on the head with the gun. The during the altercation William lost possession of the handgun. William Buttry III's wife Jeannie retrieved the gun and shot William one time in the chest. William Buttry III was pronounced dead at the scene by the Madison County Coroner. Dean Buttry was transported to Pattie A. Clay where he was treated for lacerations and broken bones. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
