KSP 'Friday Night Blue Light' Event in Bourbon County

WHAT: Friday Night Blue Light Event
WHEN: Friday, September 19, 2008 - (Approx. 7:00 p.m.)
WHERE: Bourbon County High School Football Field
WHO: Kentucky State Police
WHY: To reduce traffic fatalities across the state by enforcing safe driving and seat belt use. This campaign will also target underage drinking which is often associated with post-game activities.
ACTIVITIES:
- Roll-over Simulator Demonstrator
- Special Response Team Canine Display
- Highway Safety & Underage Drinking Prevention Booths
- Free give-aways and raffle prize drawing
- Delivery of Game Ball in KSP Retro-Cruiser
- National Anthem presentation by KSP Trooper (tentative)
FACTS: Last year in Kentucky, the highest percentage of collisions for the months of September and October occurred on Fridays - specifically, in the evening hours.
Bourbon County: In 2007, there were 720 collisions, 183 injuries and7 fatalities. 207 of those crashes involved teen drivers.
Montgomery County: In 2007, there were 1,075 collisions, 248 injuries and 10 fatalities. 126 of those crashes involved teen drivers.
