Memorial Day Dry Ridge Check Points
Date of News Release: 05/16/2008
(Dry Ridge, KY) - The Kentucky State Police Post 6 at Dry Ridge will be intensifying efforts to enforce seat belt and speeding laws among all motorists during the upcoming holiday travel period. This effort is in support of the 2008 "Click It or Ticket" mobilization efforts to reduce traffic fatalities and injury accidents. Seat belts have been proven to reduce the risk of fatal injuries in a crash by up to 60% for front-seat passengers. Wearing the seat belt correctly is easy and it costs nothing; not wearing it may cost someone a ticket, or worse, their life.
With these objectives in mind, the Dry Ridge Post will support these initiatives by conducting increased speed enforcement activity along with conducting traffic safety checkpoints throughout the post district. These checkpoints will be set up at designated areas on highways where statistics have shown an elevated number of vehicle crashes. During the checkpoints officers will be enforcing laws related to Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol, Licensing of Motor Vehicles and Operators, Registration and Insurance Violations, Seat Belt and Child Restraint violations along with Motor Vehicle Equipment Violations.
