Positive ID is Made in Tragic Crash in Gallatin County, KY

(Campbellsburg, KY.) - Additional information on the collision on KY 467 between Sparta and Glencoe, KY in rural Gallatin County that was discovered on January 17, 2008.

The victims have been positively identified as:

  1. Glenn Allen Johnson Jr, white male, 33 years old, from Sanders, Ky.
  2. Kendra Nicole Johnson, white female, 26 years old, from Sanders, Ky.
  3. Sevin Zyrin Johnson, white male, 5 years old, from Sanders, Ky.
  4. Mekenzie Johnson, white female, 2 years old, from Sanders, Ky.
  5. Mya Ula-Jean Johnson, white female, 18 months old, from Sanders, Ky.

The autopsies were done at St. Lukes East in Ft. Thomas, Ky. The autopsies showed that all of the victims died from drowning. Identification of the victims was made based on information learned at the autopsy combined with information obtained from family members. This family is the same family that was reported missing to the Hamilton, OH, Police Department on January 10, 2008.

Preliminary findings from the collision investigation indicate the vehicle was traveling west on KY 467 when it left the road for an unknown reason. The vehicle overturned in a body of water, Eagle Creek, and became submerged in the creek. The exact date and time of the collision is still not known.

Information from the investigation continues to suggest that foul play is not suspected in this tragic incident, however the Kentucky State Police will continue to explore all leads.

The Kentucky State Police are seeking the public's assistance in this investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or had contact with the victim's after the Christmas holiday are encouraged to contact the Kentucky State Police at 877-416-1226 (toll free) or 502 532-6363 (local).

The Kentucky State Police has been assisted by the Gallatin County Sheriff Nelson Brown, Gallatin County Coroner Denny French, Carroll County (Ky) Sheriffs Office, Hamilton County (Oh) Police Department, and the Kentucky Office of the State Medical Examiner.

(Campbellsburg, KY.) - On January 17th, 2008, at approximately 1630 hours, Gallatin County Dispatch contacted Kentucky State Police Post-5, Campbellsburg, in reference to a vehicle submerged in Eagle Creek, off of KY 467 located in rural Gallatin County, between Sparta and Glencoe. Gallatin County Sheriff's Office arrived and requested assistance from the Kentucky State Police. After removing the vehicle from the creek, it was determined that there were 5 bodies, 2 adults and 3 children, inside of the vehicle. The victims have not been positively identified, and no foul play is suspected at this time. The investigation is in its earliest stages, and we will release further when it becomes available. In addition to the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office and the Kentucky State Police, the Gallatin County Coroners Office, and Gallatin County Emergency Services assisted in this investigation.
